Noise monitoring Environmental Efficiency can undertake Many IPC/IPPC licences specify limits for noise at the site boundary or at Noise Sensitive Locations (NSL). In addition, some local authorities also place limits on noise (e.g. from rotating machinery at night). Where the noise level exceeds the limits, then the breach may be due to traffic or other background noise. It is therefore vital that the noise measurements are carried out by properly qualified staff that know how to account for these factors. All Environmental Efficiency noise monitoring staff have appropriate qualifications. Where noise from the site exceeds limits, a noise prediction model can be undertaken to determine the precise cause. This will then allow 'what if' scenarios to be investigated. Noise modelling is a cost effective technique, as it will allow the lowest cost options to be implemented with confidence. Past solutions have included such low cost options as replacing worn bearings and repositioning mobile refrigeration units. Where tonal noise is a problem, Environmental Efficiency can undertake narrow band frequency analysis to determine the source and propose abatement measures. Link
