On-Site ISO 14644-1 Particle Counting: Cleanrooms, Data Centres & Critical Environments
Environmental Efficiency provides on-site airborne particle counting to verify cleanroom and controlled-environment cleanliness in line with the methodology set out in ISO 14644-1:2015.
This service can be delivered as a standalone test, or included within a wider new-build/refurbishment handover report for cleanrooms, server rooms, data centres, and other critical spaces.
What we do
We measure airborne particle concentration (particle density) using calibrated instrumentation and a test plan aligned to ISO 14644-1:2015 requirements, including:
- Measurements at the prescribed number of locations across the room (based on area and ISO class)
- Targeted readings at key risk points such as:
- Near air supply/terminal HEPA points
- Fresh air intake and make-up air
- Air handlers/return air paths
- Critical work zones (as applicable)
Where results indicate elevated counts, we’ll help you identify likely causes (e.g., filtration issues, housekeeping, construction dust ingress, pressure/airflow anomalies, or operational activities) and recommend practical next steps.
Optional add-ons
- Pre- and post-clean particle measurements to verify the effectiveness of a cleaning intervention (including our own cleaning engagements where relevant)
- Support for handover documentation and objective cleanliness acceptance against an agreed ISO class
- Repeat testing to demonstrate stability over time or after remedial works
When is ISO 14644-1:2015 useful?
Clients typically use ISO 14644-1:2015 particle testing to:
- Provide an objective pass/fail cleanliness check as part of handover and commissioning
- Verify that a cleanroom or critical environment meets a pre-agreed ISO class
- Establish a baseline before production, installation, or go-live
