Breaking into the London Corporate Fit Out Market: Achieving Triple Accreditation and Unveiling Cost Reduction Opportunities
Environmental Efficiency created a bespoke environmental management system and achieved FSC and PEFC accreditation inside three months. Subsequently the environmental management system gained ISO14001 accreditation shortly after. To achieve all three certifications in record time shows a high degree of commitment to ensuring not only there is a sound documented system but that it works well on the shop floor.
One concern of Burke Joinery was that if sales increased the solvent use would rise above the threshold under the Solvent Regulations. During the development of the Environmental Management System opportunities for reducing solvent use were sought and we made a number of recommendations. These included a solvent still to recover solvent for further use, alternative ways of cleaning spray guns when changing coating materials, recovery of end of job paint, use of pre-primed material and improved storage of solvents. These changes significantly reduced solvent consumption to below the threshold.
A number of significant cost reduction opportunities were also uncovered and the consultant made further recommendations to achieve these. Cost savings were made in the areas of solvent use, hazardous waste disposal, disposal of general waste and energy use.
The completed of this project is typical of the creative approach of Environmental Efficiency that differentiates us from other consultants.
