Recycling Waste Solvent

Environmental Efficiency was engaged in carrying out an environmental audit for a manufacturing company in Britain. We noted that the company was disposing of waste solvent by including it in the general waste skip. This is of course illegal and can lead to contamination of groundwater.

Environmental Efficiency suggested that a solvent still be purchased, and this be used to recycle the waste solvent. The recycled solvent was then used for spray gun cleaning amongst other uses.

The recommendation was implemented and the savings from the reduced volume of solvent purchased resulted in a financial payback of three months and compliance with the waste regulations.
