Decarbonisation: Reducing Emissions for a Sustainable Future
Until recently the focus of industry was on reducing energy consumption in order to reduce costs or increase security of supply. More recently, the focus has changed to pursue decarbonisation of the energy use to align with the expectations of stakeholders.
Simply put, decarbonisation is the process of reducing the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere as a result of an organisations activities, with the goal of mitigating the impacts of climate change. This involves transitioning away from the use of fossil fuels and other high-emissions activities and replacing them with low-carbon alternatives, such as renewable energy sources and sustainable transportation options. Our assessment will cover Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, which means we’ll help you identify all of the sources of greenhouse gas emissions associated with your business operations. These three scopes include emissions from your own activities (Scope 1), purchased energy (Scope 2), and all other indirect emissions associated with your supply chain (Scope 3).
Environmental Efficiency has over 25 years of experience in reducing energy use and decarbonisation. This has included work for large companies such as Meta, KPMG, General Electric, Energia, BOC Gases, One 51 Group, Aquilant Ltd, Ricardo AES Corp and Compass Ireland.
Our team includes mechanical, environmental, and electrical engineers, and we are listed on the UK ESOS and the Ireland EAS registers.
